Composer in Nature’s University

Brief history of how this 2023 version of booklet Ernest Bloch: Composer in Nature’s University came to be created.

In 2005, the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts applied for a grant from the Oregon Arts Commission. The page title read: Oregon Coast Council for the Arts / Remembering Superman on the Beach. On page 6 of this publication we read: “In 2006, the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts joined with community partners on an Ernest Bloch Retrospective that would foster a greater appreciation for the composer’s life and times, while furthering Newport’s vision “to be recognized as a city of the arts.” A concise booklet on Bloch’s life was created as part of the retrospective.” The attached 2023 version was produced on the occasion of the Ernest Bloch Legacy Project becoming part of the Lincoln County Historical Society.
